- WoW Classic Release Date: When is it coming out?

World of Warcraft: Classic is, somewhat ironically, one of the most anticipated titles Blizzard Entertainment is releasing within this year. Now, with a confirmed release date of August 27th, 2019, the hype surrounding the return of one of the most influential games of the past decade is at an all-time high. Classic servers will be available to anyone who already has a World of Warcraft subscription, so current players who have never experienced a 40-man Molten Core have something to look forward to.

WoW: Classic is scheduled for August 27 (technically August 26 if you're in the Americas). The soonest that you can play it is starting in May, during Blizzard's scheduled stress tests. To opt-in you must have an active subscription on your Battle.net account. If you do, go to Account Management and select the Wow Classic beta. Keep in mind, there will be level caps during the test. The schedule is as follows:

    Stress Test 1: Wednesday May 22 - Thursday May 23
    Stress Test 2: Wednesday June 19 - Thursday June 20
    Stress Test 3: Thursday August 8 - Friday August 9

The last stress test was previously slated for Wednesday July 18 to Thursday July 19, but was recently labeled as "TBD" after Taepsilum revealed that the team wasn't quite ready for the global stress test. However, we just got the final dates: Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PDT to Friday, August 9. The minimum requirements were revealed as well.

You won't need to purchase a separate game for World of Warcraft Classic, instead new servers will go live which will allow players to jump in (however you'll need to create new characters as everything is back to basics). While Classic seems like it'll be a nostalgia trip, the World of Warcraft of old was actually much slower paced and challenging - with players leveling up much slower and a lot less content. In other words, it's going to be very time consuming and requiring a lot of grinding whereas modern World of Warcraft features quality-of-life perks and instant leveling.
